Many Dankookians (Students of Dankook University) may not fully grasp the breadth of resources available to them beyond the basic lectures and campus infrastructure. To illuminate these often overlooked advantages, the Dankook Herald (DKH) has compiled a list of services accessible to Dankookians.

During academic life, one common task for students is the creation of PowerPoint presentations (PPTs). As such, many Dankookians use a considerable amount of time and energy in this process. To alleviate these troubles, Dankook University (DKU) offers a service called ‘PEAUTY.’ PEAUTY has simple design templates and content across various categories including business and IT. It also provides diverse clip art and fonts, which make PPTs more perfect. Furthermore, you can download the templates created through PEAUTY limitlessly. Dankookians can access this service by logging into DKU’s library website (Korean version), navigating to the Browsing tab under the Search section, and clicking on the PEAUTY banner in the e-Journals/Academic DB.

Next, DKU’s library also provides an e-book service designed to help with study, research, and leisure activities. Any Dankookians can gain access to approximately 15,000 Korean e-books and 500,000 international academic e-books. In particular, Korean e-books encompass all subjects, including novels, magazines, and exam books. If you are international Dankookians, we recommend using TOPIK e-books to try for scholarships. If you download Viewer, you can read e-books on mobile and PC. Detailed instructions about e-book services can be found by logging into the library homepage and clicking the Browsing tab – E-book in the search.

Lastly, Microsoft Office plays a crucial role in academic life, offering essential tools like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. However, purchasing these programs individually can be costly and challenging for many students. To address this concern, DKU provides the Microsoft 365 service, granting Dankookians complimentary access to Microsoft applications. Microsoft 365 is a cloud-based service that allows users to install genuine Office on up to 5 PCs and 5 mobile devices, coupled with 1TB of OneDrive storage. However, Dankookians need to note that upon changes in academic status, such as retirement, dropout, graduation, or expulsion, access to Microsoft 365 will be automatically terminated by the relevant department. This system monitors user status changes and updates permissions for Office 365 accordingly every day. Therefore, those planning to correct their academic records should ensure they back up their data before the revocation of access. After revocation, access or retrieval of personal data will no longer be possible. For detailed instructions on using the service, Dankookians can visit the university’s homepage and navigate to the Microsoft 365 section under the Academics category (학사서비스).

By actively utilizing these valuable resources provided by DKU, the DKH hopes that Dankookians will use them to improve academic performance and personal growth.
