On April 29, the Dankook University (DKU) Hospital Cancer Treatment Center held an opening ceremony to celebrate its official opening. After 3 years of construction, it has been unveiled and opened to the local community.

Investing 80 billion dollars, the Cancer Treatment Center has a total of 10 stories with over 250 sickbeds. It is the biggest scale hospital that ever existed in Chungcheongnam-do province. The Director of DKU Hospital, Professor Kim Jae-il, stated that the primary goal of this treatment center is to improve cancer patients’ access to professional medical treatments in central areas rather than having to go all the way to Seoul. The center is equipped with the best facilities such as the gastrointestinal tract center, breast cancer center, lung cancer center, thyroid center, and digestive endoscopy center. In addition, it operates customized treatment for patients, such as ‘multidisciplinary treatment’ by professional medical staff with extensive experience in cancer treatment and ‘Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)’ based on genome mutation analysis.
The Dankook Herald hopes that cancer patients near Chungcheong province can have easy access to sufficient cancer treatments henceforth.
